The Quest Story

A successful local brand, Quest Adventure Series have been running the world’s biggest one-day adventure race in Killarney, Ireland for the last number of years. Having expanded the business to four sold out events in some of Ireland’s most epic locations, the challenge was to bring the event to an international audience in the form of new events in new locations, but also in the form of a new brand, a new tone of voice and a new marketing and brand strategy.

Our objective was to create a Quest brand that could compete effectively for the hearts and minds of athletes, adventurers and event junkies across multiple markets. Beyond the brand, it was important that we provided Quest with templates and direction on communicating their values and their key selling points throughout the year.

We invested heavily in understanding what adventure racing and adventure racers are all about. From desk research and one-to-one interviews, through to members of our team taking part in a Quest Adventure Race, it was vital that we developed a deep understanding of the product, the participants and the motivation for embarking on these challenges.

We combined this research with an ambition to deliver a world-class mass participation adventure brand.

As part of the initial brand development project, Atomic Sport delivered a new brand mark, visual identity design, tone of voice, website and content development with brand ambassadors Alastair and Jonny Brownlee. We continue to work closely with the senior management team at Quest as they launch new races in new locations in 2017 and beyond.
