There must be something about Manchester United that makes their former players want to become hoteliers. A few weeks ago we told you about the Class of 92's lucrative real estate deals with Singaporean businessman Peter Lim but that has been surpassed by an even wealthier former Red Devil.
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly invest $40m of his own money into opening four luxury hotels with business partner Dionisio Pestana. The hotels will open in Lisbon, the island of Madeira, Madrid and New York, with the first two opening this year and the latter two opening in 2017.
Just like his former Man United team-mates, Ronaldo has aligned himself with a savvy businessman in the hopes of extending his commercial reach - Pestana runs the Pestana Group, which is Portugal's largest hotel operator.
This is just the latest example of Ronaldo diversifying his portfolio after previously staring his own clothing line named CR7.
