It is almost inexplicable that America's most popular sport doesn't have a professional team in Los Angeles. The city is one of the world's most famous metropolis' and considering some of the less prosperous locations that house NFL franchises, it is a bit of a head-scratcher that LA has remained vacant.
The NFL is set to rectify that in the near future as three teams - the St Louis Rams, the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders - have all applied to the league office to relocate to LA.
The Rams and the Raiders previously played in the city but both left in 1995, which has left LA without a pro football team for 20 years. There are many economic benefits from being located in a big market, which is why these three teams are all so eager to ditch their loyal fans and move.
The Chargers are the most likely team to get the nod, and their owner Dean Spanos' bank account will likely benefit massively as a result.
