Here at Atomic, we felt our offices were starting to look a little plain. So we got goin’ like Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and commissioned a number of bespoke pieces to jazz the place up.
First, we commissioned a projecting steel sign for above our door based on our logo. We arranged for the steel to be treated with a corrosive paste so the surface will rust over time, slowly weathering the golden hue of our logo. Next, we designed a neon sign spelling out ‘ATOMIC’, for the vertical window beside our front door. Constructed from white, cold-cathode neon, the sign is over 2 metres tall and bright enough to light up half the lane outside our building. Couriers should have no problem finding us now. Actually, nobody should have any problem finding us now.
Inside the building we continued the Atomic theme with a large transparent vinyl for the window separating the lobby and the conference room. The ‘pièce de résistance’ however, is in the conference room itself. We commissioned the Parisian illustrator, and friend of the studio, Gaetan Billault (www.gaetan-billault.com) to create a bespoke illustration to cover the entire gable wall. The artwork explores the idea of creativity, inspiration and the tension between work and play. Utilising the black, white and gold of our logo, the piece brilliantly conveys the sense of the inventiveness we at Atomic try to bring to all our work.
