While most Premier League clubs make 27% of total revenue from commercial ventures, Manchester United are making 50%. How they are doing this? In part through their sponsorship deal with Adidas, which gives the club significantly more control of their merchandising rights.
The club have taken control of the Man Utd superstores, in addition to contracting various sponsorship licenses across the world with multiple partners, such as one South Korean shoe company. However in doing this, one expert questions whether this will lead to saturation of their sponsorship value.
What these figures illustrate more than anything else is that while the Premier League table is extremely tight, Manchester United have much more financial muscle than even their main title rivals.
