With plans for the Euros already in motion, the FAI are looking ahead at the build up to next years World Cup Qualifier matches. With the success of last years Season ticket promotion, we once again partnered with the FAI to create next seasons campaign. Irish support for the team is unrivalled, and no opposition likes coming to the Aviva when it's a sell-out and the fans are in full voice. Ireland remained unbeaten at home for the entire Euro qualifiers, a huge achievement considering the quality of the opposition they faced. One of the highlights of the Qualifiers came in the 2nd last group game when Ireland defeated current World Champions, Germany. It was a special moment, and anybody lucky enough to be in the Aviva that night will never forget the deafening roar as Shane Long hit the back of the net.
For this campaign, we wanted to pay tribute to the fans and the spirit they bring to football games. They are regarded as the best fans in the World. They left such an impact on the city of Poznan in Euro 2012 that the mayor commissioned billboards to be put up around Dublin thanking them for the fun and ‘craic’ they brought to his city for 10 days.
The key visual is a photo-realistic artwork, that frames hundreds of supporters, driving Shane Long and the rest of the Irish team. The image is brimming with a carnival like atmosphere, as the fans do what Irish fans do so well, waving flags, cheering and immersing themselves in the action. It is a visual representation of the immense presence and influence Irish supporters have on the players. The headline ‘When We Get Together, It All Comes Together’ is a reminder that their support is so strong, anything is possible on the pitch (like beating the World Champions).
We created a website for the campaign where fans could easily choose the right seating plan, purchase tickets, see upcoming games and find out more about the many benefits of being a season ticket holder.
There are some great games fans have to look forward to, including a Celtic derby against Wales in March followed by Austria in June. Who Knows? The Green Army could possibly be fuelling the camper vans for an invasion of Russia in 2018, but before all that, it must conquer France.
