We are delighted to have worked with Paralympics Ireland in the build up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. As an organisation, Paralympics Ireland needed a marketing platform, a new website and a marketing strategy to raise awareness of the ambitions and success of their athletes, with a secondary task of raising much needed funds for their touring squad.
From researching Paralympic sport, learning about the athletes and hearing their stories we developed the ‘More Than Sport’ platform. Learning about the Paralympic movement and the athletes involved has taken the agency on a rich journey. Their achievements are real and cannot be measured by sporting success alone. They come from an overwhelming determination that is truly inspiring. Their training is ‘More’, their dedication is ‘More’ and their triumphs are ‘More’.
Make no mistake about it, these are elite competitors. They train as hard, if not harder than most able-bodied athletes. Jason Smyth, for example, is rated by Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay as having one of the best sprinting techniques in all athletics. In London, he won two gold medals, while smashing word records along the way.
We created a new website for the organisation and it's launch coincided with a compelling promotional video we created that showcased Ireland's elite Paralympians. The powerful video centres on the athlete’s huge physical effort, determination and resolve as they train for Rio.
Within the first week of launch, the campaign, and video in particular, was picked up across all levels of national and international media with extremely positive feedback. We developed five additional videos focusing on individual athletes and their stories. Paralympics Ireland plan to release these videos in the lead up to the games. Our aim is to get the whole country behind these athletes to once again produce this year’s iconic sporting moments.
