In the run up to the Leinster v Northampton match, we looked at different ways we could utilise and add value to some of the huge Leinster Rugby social media following, and try something a little different.
We came across the idea of getting fans to interact with Instagram posts a little more than just giving posts a like, and spark some match day activity ideas in the lead up to the game.
Through setting up a secondary Leinster account “Leinster Match Day”, fans could interact with the post. We instructed fans to 1) tap on the image then 2) tap on the tag within the image, which brought them to the next stage where they could choose from three categories of match day activities.
Fans could choose from Shopping, Dinner and Things To Do. Each category had a map of the surrounding area close to the Aviva Stadium, with activities focused around each of the category headers. Each point of Interest had the venues Instagram tag embedded where applicable.
